Mabel Teo is a Director at Designete.net a one- stop digital creative agency that is established by a team of experts specializing in all aspects of digital marketing and technology. Designete offers highly customized services to its esteemed clients across Asia and US thereby working with industry leaders in the fashion, lifestyle, tourism and Food & beverages industries.
Mabel is an internationally acclaimed fashion expert with nearly 2 decades of professional experience in the fashion industry. Mabel started her career in the fashion industry as fashion designer as a teenager. In 1993 when she was employed by Cotton Incorporated as an assistant to join the fashion department. Because of her fascinating and exquisite performance, in 1996 she was promoted to the position of the Fashion Manager, S.E. Asia. As the Fashion Manager, she engaged in extensive business traveling in S.E. Asia and US and in the process conducted fashion research and spoke extensively on color and fabric trend forecasts in the region, reporting to the New York Fashion Department and International headquarters at NC, USA. Panel of speakers at key conferences – Singapore Fashion Week, Hong Kong Fashion Week, Interstoff Asia, Source It Manail, Asia Global Sourcing, Jakarta. Panel judging at key fashion shows in Hong Kong, as well as leading fashion colleges in Singapore such as Lasalle College of Art, Raffles Design Institute, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2005, Mabel was elevated to the position of the Executive Accounts Manager, with the responsibility of spearheading the company’s global product marketing efforts that were instrumental in influencing key global sourcing companies. At this time, Mabel was exposed to more in–depth businesses; global trade and sourcing businesses for key US retailers leading to her extensive business traveling in S.E. Asia and US. She supervised, coordinated and spoke at major trade shows, conferences and seminars such as Interstoff Asia, Hong Kong Fashion Week, Singgapore Fashion Week, and more. She also had an outstanding track record in managing regional key accounts, and working with companies – GAP (HK & S’pore)), Polo Ralph Lauren(HK & S’pore), Liz Claiborne(HK), Levi’s(HI & S’pore), Li & Fung(HK), William E-Connor(HK), Kenneth Cole(HK), Tommy Hilfiger(HK), Nike(HK,S’pore,Thai) Charming Shoppes(HK), Target(HK), Jordache(HK), Land’s End(HK), Central Group(Thai), Jaspal & Sons(Thai)and many more.
In 2008, Mabel moved on to a teaching career at Raffles College of Higher Education where she was the Lecturer cum Programme Coordinator(HOD) for Fashion Marketing and Management. During this programme she majored on Strategic Marketing, Brand Management, E-Marketing and Consultation which equipped her with rich experience in these areas leading to the establishment of Designete. As the programme leader, she enriched students’ knowledge and enhanced their learning experience through winning industry competitions like the Nike Spring/Summer 2010 Stylist Challenge. She also initiated collaborations with industry partners such as Les Affaires, Jeyson Brunsdon, Anne Tyler, The Singapore Shawl, Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore (TaFf), Island Shop, Valentino Ruday, Bodynits International, Funfit, Crocodile Singapore, and many more.
In 2012, Mabel moved on to take on the role of the Project Manager at the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore (TaFf). She spearheaded Designers Work Attachment projects, matching upcoming young designers with mentors in homegrown fashion houses. She organized and assisted key fashion events including members’ networking, Asia Fashion Conference (AFF), Audi Star Creation, Asia Fashion Summit, Singplural Design Week(Robinsions + Swarovski) and many more. She additionally took on a role – business and marketing consultant at the Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre (TaFtc) where she spearheaded industry projects with major local businesses such as Project RaceTrack for Singtel Grid Girl, “Surealism” National Visual Merchandising Competition with Paragon, JEM Design Competition and others.
Having acquired all the necessary experience especially in all aspects of digital marketing and technology, coupled with the passion to be at the forefront, and assist businesses to leverage on digital platform; Mabel decided to set up designete.net. In 2014, Mabel in collaboration with a team of talented professionals in digital marketing and technology established designete.net with the mission of helping businesses grow by always providing them branding, online marketing solutions, and helping them drive more traffic to their website from search engines.
Mabel has a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management Studies, Marketing obtained from the University of Bradford, UK as well as a Advance Diploma in Fashion and Designing obtained from the Lasalle International Fashion School, Montreal (current Raffles College of Higher Education) and a SPRING Singapore Certified Brand Management Consultant
